Support Disabled Uganda was founded by MS. Betty Kyomuhendo Kyogabirwe with Support from Prof Bryan Walker and Mr Nsabimana Livingstone.

According to the current registration status and strategic plan for SDU 2022 to 2026, SDU is a Community-Based Organisation operating in Ntungamo District.

Support Disabled Uganda is funded by Philanthropists, individual well-wishers, partners like TASO, Global Fund, ICWEA, The Just Living Foundation, its members and the board of directors.

Support Disabled Uganda headquarters are at Victor Bwana Road, Ntungamo district Ntungamo Municipality Western Division, Muko Ward, Cell 9 heading to Mile Two.

SDU assists the vulnerable PWDS with entrepreneurship skills, backyard gardening, sensitization about HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria, providing scholastic materials to the PWD vulnerable school-age children and general advocacy, linkages and referrals.

Support Disabled Uganda (SDU) exists to advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities and their inclusiveness, promote health and hygiene and sensitize parents with children with disabilities about their rights to education and other children’s rights and privileges

Support Disabled Uganda is a registered Community Based Organisation (CBO) in the Ntungamo district registered under registration NO. 234 and permit No.234, SDU signed a memorandum of Understanding to operate in Ntungamo district with the District Local Government

Ntungamo district has over 40,000 PWDs, the majority of whom live in abject poverty, far below the poverty line, poor hygiene, Gender-Based Violence, poor hygiene and sanitation, high prevalence levels of HIV, and low education levels among PWDS. These social problems triggered SDU founders to start to leverage them.

Support Disabled Uganda SDU was established in October 2019 and registered with Ntungamo District Local Government in February 2020.

SDU is an acronym used to mean Support Disabled Uganda a Community Based Organisation based in Ntungamo district that supports PWDS and other most vulnerable.
