Uganda faces a significant challenge in providing equitable and inclusive education for children with disabilities. Despite strides in improving overall education access, children with disabilities encounter numerous barriers that hinder their academic, social, and personal development. This marginalized group experiences disparities in educational opportunities, limited access to specialized support services, and societal stigmatization, contributing to a cycle of exclusion and hindering their full participation in the educational system. According to (National Action Plan for Children with Disabilities 2016/17- 2020/21, MGLSD) 5.82% of Ugandan Children are estimated to be children with disabilities, this translates to 2,027,148 children with disabilities (1,052,000 boys and 974,488 girls). Majority of the children with disabilities in Ntungamo district have no access to basic education, face stigma, neglect and discrimination from home level to the community.

Support Disabled Uganda through her interventions in the district realized that across all the 34 district lower local government units, there is no school for the blind children, and the available schools for the deaf are also not affordable by the children from poor families due to high cost of standards of living. Some children with physical impairment are also not in school because the schools are far from home, roads are impassable by wheel chairs and need a family member to push them in a wheel chair in the morning and in the afternoon to and from school daily. Others are not in school because parents regard them as a curse or useless to their families and community.  Children with disabilities in Ntungamo district need a great support to acquire a smile on their faces by providing them with school fees and scholastic materials, empowering parents to build their socioeconomic status and conduct targeted sensitization to the community members on the need for inclusion of peole with disabilities

Support Disabled Uganda seeks support to help children with disabilities in Ntungamo district to access basic education and economically empower their families with income Generating activities for sustainability
