LINKAGE AND REFERRALS

SDU makes routine field visits to the communities and schools to give psycho social support to families raising children with disabilities.  SDU provides scholastic materials and uniforms to children with disabilities who are from vulnerable families so that they can access education.  Currently SDU has no capacity to make medical assessment to these children who need medical attention, but through fundraising , the raised money is used to transport the caretaker and the child together with the SDU staff to Mbarara at OURS Ruharo mission hospital where there  are specialists for Persons with disabilities.  The main challenge we face as SDU is we receive bigger numbers of persons with disabilities who need such services . There are so many children with disabilities in our communities who need assessment and referrals for recommendations. It is after the medical recommendations that SDU gets next plans. Some children are recommended for certain special nutrition and treatment while others are recommended for wheel chairs which we do not have . We appeal for assistance so as to help these young vulnerable souls.
